Block Puzzle Strategy: Space, Line Clears and Combo Scoring
Block Bloom is a free 8×8 placement puzzle. Complete rows and columns to clear them, then use the space for your next pieces. Blocks do not fall, and there is no timer. Good scores come from balancing line bonuses with enough open space to keep playing.
Play Game1. Inspect all three pieces before placing one
Each tray contains three pieces. Use them in any order; a new tray arrives only after all three are placed. If a large piece has just one possible position, protect that space before filling gaps with smaller pieces.
Pieces cannot rotate. A long horizontal piece needs a different gap from a vertical one. Drag to inspect the placement preview, or select a piece and tap the top-left position of its shape. A red preview overlaps occupied cells.
2. Preserve connected space instead of isolated holes
A board can have many empty cells and still have no legal move. Isolated holes are less useful than a wide, connected area. Build along an edge when it helps keep a large open rectangle for future pieces, including the 3×3 square.
Clearing a line does not move the remaining blocks. Before placing a piece, consider whether the cleared row or column will create a useful shape for your other pieces.
3. Combine simultaneous clears with consecutive clears
Each placed square earns 10 points. The line bonus is 100 × the square of the number of lines cleared together × the current combo. A four-square piece that clears one line at combo 1 earns 40 + 100 = 140 points.
The same piece clearing two lines at combo 2 earns 40 + 100 × 4 × 2 = 840 points. A row and column completed together count as two lines, even though they intersect. Consecutive placements with a clear raise the combo; any placement without a clear resets it.
Do not chase a combo at the cost of blocking both remaining pieces. A smaller bonus that leaves room can lead to a longer, higher-scoring game.
4. Plan around the daily 30-move limit
Free play continues until none of your remaining pieces fits. Daily and friend challenges also finish after 30 placements. Everyone opening the same challenge receives the same sequence, so you can compare different approaches.
A new daily sequence appears at 00:00 UTC. Replays use the same sequence and keep your best result. Shared daily links include the date so a friend can try the same board later. Near move 30, prioritize lines you can actually finish over empty space you will never use.
5. Resume your game and share a fair challenge
Progress saves in your browser after each placement. Free play, daily and friend modes each keep their latest game. After a reload, select Resume. Saves do not sync between devices and disappear if browser data is cleared.
Invite copies a link to a 30-move challenge with the same block sequence. The result screen can copy a score with a link or save a result image. Free-play scores have no move limit, so compare them separately from 30-move scores.
